Hello:

I am the owner of a 2000 4.6 HSE. I have an extended warranty on the vehicle, however I have an intermittent problem that does not seem to go away - and whenever I bring the vehicle in for servicing, they are never able to reproduce the problem.

Problem being - When it rains / snows and I turn on my radio there is this loud rumble from the subwoofer that seems to get louder / increase in intensity the longer the radio is on. When turning on / off the radio, changing presets, or moving from am - fm - wb - or to - cd there is this loud (single) thump sound.

What should I do? Do you have any recommendations as to diagnosing and fixing the problem myself? Have you come across this problem before?

Much thanks!

Your X-warranty most likely won't cover a radio issue anyway. Are you sure about the rain / snow connection ? Are you from the States ? It could be a bad ground. Most likely a bad amplifier. Does it happen with a CD playing ?

Hmm.... These kinds of problems usually are not intermittent.

I am having this same problem. There is nothing comming out of the sub and when I turn on the radio or change the station it thumps. Also my drivers side rear interior light flashes with the bass. Im thinking its the ground but usually a bad ground will give a whinning sound with the engine... not a thump. So im a little confused. Any ideas?

Go to rangerover.net That is a corroded ground in the door panel. Easy fix!! Very common.
