Hello:

I am the owner of a 2000 Range Rover and whenever it rains water accumulates in the spare tire area. After this happens, the water stays there for long periods at a time. Has anyone experienced the same? Is there any way to drain the water? The dealer wants 1 hour of labor just to figure out what is wrong ($115). Is there a common known fix for this?

Thank you so much,

JD

The floor drain in your spare tire area is plugged, pull the spare out and clean and open it up.
Now what you are going to need to find is the location of the leaks, most likely plugged drain tubes on your sun roof.

Thank you for your reply. I'm going to attempt to remove the spare tire floor board so that the water will be able to drain. From there I'll try to pin down where the leak is actually coming from. Thanks for your input and enjoy your weekend!

Its better to fix the leak look at the door seal on the tail door then make sure the taillamps seal arent leaking that is the usual problem water should not be getting in there

i have not been able to find this spare tire well drain plug either. maybe it was only present on earlier models? before lr supposidly found a fix for this problem?

what i did do though was removed the spare tire and dry vac'ed the area. no water yet - but it hasnt rainned much since then.

ill keep you posted if i find a fix.

My 94 RRC LWB has the mysterious rubber plug.
It's about the size of a 50 cent piece and is dead center in the spare tire floor pan.
I'm sure it is there for a reason on some models.
I agree with the liftgate idea.
With all the rust and corrosion happening there; if it is the original window and seals it probably does leak.
Is there any water stains on the headliner?
If not you know it is coming in at a lower point.
