I am a new rover owner. I have a 2004 Range Rover HSE. I was trying to get it into Low gearing but it wont. I read the manual which says that put the gear selector in N and then pull the transfer switch (located to the right of the gear) backwards and release, a low gear light will flash in the instrument cluster and once engaged will stay illuminated. Nothing is happening for me... no flashing and no illumination... i dont even feel any difference in driving characteristic, it seems like the low gear is not engaging ... can anyone help me with this... i hope this is not a major transmission or transfer case overhaul job ... the car drives amazingly otherwise with no issues whatsoever ... i am hoping it is a blown fuse or just a bad switch ... has anyone experienced this? ... your expert help will be appreciated ... thanks

You need to get a test probe and starting checking power down to the solenoid that activates the low range shifter.
I doubt you have an expensive$$$$ problem.

It is under factory warranty so I will be taking it to the dealer ... will let you know what the issue was.

i know it cannot be an expensive issue ... the car drives like a dream otherwise ... does that solenoid also control information presented on the instrument cluster display because there is no indication there as well for the L-H range transfer...i only wish they used more expensive material for the interior .. i used to drive an X5 4.4 before this and I see a differnce in quality.
