97 disco sd drivetrain wont engage

when i put my disco in drive are reverse.drivtrain wont engage.i hear somthing turning but when i look under car dont see drive shafts moving.also ebrake stop working.i can push car in park.but if i lock my diff car will drive.i think its a problem with transfer box but dont know.really need help

You say neither drive shaft turns when you put it in gear, but you hear some moving???
When locked up you can move, so normally that would indicate you broke a diff, but a drive shaft would have to be turning. If that is all correct, then the only thing it could be would be the t/case failing.

could it be possible i broke the rear driveshaft and when i lock diff its moving the front driveshaft.could it be the spindle in the rear driveshaft.also could it be electrical.how would i go about finding out the problem.

ok here goes .when i lock the diff and put it in drive the front driveshaft turns only.the rear driveshaft thats attached to the transmission brake does not turn.in park,if i get under the car when the diff is locked. i can turn rear driveshaft with my hand.the front is locked by hand.

Sounds like an inner t/case break, I would get it to a shop that is familiar with them and see what they say.
