I think I have a blown head gasket.  I have an exhaust leak below the right exhaust manifold.  I tool it to one mechanic and he said I needed a new motor.  Can someone give me some help on this issue.  Thanks

Exhaust leak below the right exhaust manifold ?  Do you mean that you think compression is leaking from a blown head gasket below the exhaust manifold ?  Can you put you hand there and feel air pressure there when cranking ?  Can, or have you done a compression test ?  Does it feel like you're running on seven cylinders, missing, etc. ?  Any trouble codes ?  If you do have a blown head gasket, you don't necessarily need a new motor.  I did mine along with a valve job about a year ago, and my '96 Disco is fine now.  It all depends on what's wrong.

You went from a exhaust leak to needing a motor very fast.
Why did they say you need a motor?
Just because of a exhaust leak it will not hurt the motor, and if it runs doesn't over
heat have milky looking oil it maybe just a exhaust leak.

Just checked the oil and radiator fluid levels and they were both good, looked like the oil was not contaminated.  I took the right exhaust manifold off and can see where someone tried to JB weld the crack.  the crack in right in line with the head gasket.about 1 1/2 inches long.  there is no error codes and the engine seems to run strong.  I have not done a compression test as of yet, so that maybe my next step.

Is the crack in the head or the block?

The crack is on the seam, between the heads and the block

Im a bit confised. So the crack is on niether the head or the block, but on the head gasket?

If what you're saying is correct, you need a new mechanic.

one of the cylinders near the crack in the gasket failed the compression test. so I guess that is were the air is coming from?  So what do I do now?

Sounds like it is time to do the head gaskets. Seems like someone knew they blew and tried to patch it from the outside.
