Basic Lift questions...agian

Sorry if this question has been posted a billion times.

I simply want to lift my '02 Disco enough to accommodate slightly larger tires than those that came on the 18" wheels. Those will go away and I'll swap to 16s. I just want a modest boost in height. Somewhat for the look, but also for mild off road applications.

Would suspension spacers do the trick? Body lift? Which is better? Which is cheaper? Speaking to that, which is the least expensive option. I don't mind replacing shocks/springs, but mine are fairly new so if I could keep them, that would be nice.

Lastly, given the various 2" lift options, what is a max tire size I can run before running into trouble?

So how many miles are on your truck, and on your current suspension?

It's nearing 60k. The Rover mech I took it to said it was in great shape. Probably had regular dealer servicing until I picked it up. The shocks/springs are new-ish, but I don't mind replacing them if I need to. I did get the recommendation to go with a 2" STD lift from Rover Time, which is what I'll likely do. I just need to follow up on tire/wheel leads.

So what are you planning to use the truck for? Are you thinking off road, if so, get rid of the 18" wheels and go to 16"s using a tire light a 265/75/16.
18's are terrible of the road, prone to tearing side walls and wear out quickly, 16"s last longer ride better and and are far better off the road.

Thanks again Mike. I guess I'll shop for 16" wheels. As for off roading, I'll only do modest off roading. I do find myself in deep snow from time to time where my Jeep Rubicon does well with the extra height. I've noticed the high price of 18" tires equals the price of cheap 16" wheels AND tires.

By my calculations my 255/55/18 tires provide a 29" diameter. Your 265/65/16 tires provide a 31.64" diameter. Using my 18s, I'd have to run 265/65/18 for a similar 31.54" diameter and the tire selection sucks.

When I do this lift, will I need anything extra like brake lines or other do-dads?

Another quick question:

I've been told that running 265/75/16 tires (or 265/65/18s for that matter) will require MORE than a 2" lift using OME springs and shocks. I was told I'd need to include a 1" suspension spacer.

Speaking to that, since my shocks/springs are in newish shape, what's keeping me from using suspension spacers? Any reason why I shouldn't buy 2" suspension spacers with my stock shocks?
