Just joined the forum for the first time and have a 1996 Range Rover 4.0SE . Every time I start the vehicle with the A/C switched on, or turn on the A/C, I get the same flapping sound from the left (driver side) of the dashboard. It sounds like the flap on the left side blower motor is attempting to close, this goes on 6 or 7 times before it stops, then the dreadful book and exclamation mark appear on the HVAC climate control unit. I am not sure whether to take out the left blower motor which seems like a real big job or change the left blend motor that controls the left side, which relatively speaking reads to be less of a hassle!
I have also noticed that the fuse box is damaged since Relay # 7 controlling LH Blower has really overheated and damaged the terminals in the box. I am about to order the fuse box and change it , but hate to do half a job as the cause should either be the blower motor or the blend motor that controls the left side! Any ideas how to diagnose blend motor and blower motors or which to replace ???

Thanks

Do yourself a favor and spend a few bucks to have a shop determine what is wrong. The parts are expensive and the labor is long so don't guess.
