If I give the 93 rover some gas and then immediatly let up, there is some sort of clank in it...feels like a shaft or something. Any ideas as to what this may be?

The drivertrain in a Land Rover has a lot of components where backlash will develop over time. It is not unusual to hear a bit of clanking if quickly taking power off and then back on again. But-- to be on the safe side, have the u-joints on both the front and rear driveshafts checked out for excessive slop, or lack of lubricant. Other possible causes are the front hub c.v. joints , gear backlash in the transfer case, or in one or both of the differentials.
You get the idea?
These are Trucks -- not SUV's --- and the Range Rover Classic is getting on in years now. Hence -- the groans and creaks.
