97' Disco seems to need a brand new engine along with a valve job...any recommendations of an independent shop/dealer in the North Eastern part of the US - NY/NJ. Recommendations on a ball park figure of cost? -

i got the same model with the same prob. i've gotten estimates anywhere from3K to 11K

Will Tillery in Danville, VA sells and ships complete engines. Depending on mileage/condition, they very in price from 300.00 to 2000.00. A good shop, or any typical redneck can install it.

my engine is also failing!! someone please point me towards someone who can sell and install an engine that is relatively nearby. I live in north MS bout an hour south of MEmphis,TN. it could go any day now!

I'd throw a hefty diesel in it...

Import a caterpillar diesel from south america, comes with all ancillary components and a converter or the trans. About three grand, more torque horsepower and about 30mpg on highway, cant beat a diesel.

How many miles are on yours, I have a 1997 with 98000 miles and I am now scared crapless after this thread. Any particular reasons why yours went?

try east coast rover they always rebuild engines for rovers don't how much though.

So far the best offer I've gotten is from www.carcannibal.com. They will come get my car and install a rebuilt 4.6 for around 3500.00. This doesn't seem so bad to me after lookin around. They also offer a Stroker v8 4.0 these are new not rebuilt like the others. I was gonna go with the 4.6. Does anyone have any advice on that? I'm still in the process of savin the $$ so I'm not in a rush...
