I live in Ireland and own a 1997 diesel Range Rover HSE model.  Recently she has become difficult to start particularly from cold.  My local expert has diagnosed a "well-known" fault that exhibits this symptom and also occasional "momentary engine dying" syndrome.  He says that the only known fix for this fault is a total fuel injection pump replacement, with the associated OUCH from my pocket.  Does anybody recognise this problem, and is there any cheaper fix?

Also, does anybody know of where I could buy a small, neat, front lamp bar for mounting two driving lamps.  I do not want the big factory or accessory A - Bar.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

As your in Ireland, you could pop over to the Land Rover Owners show in September at Peterborough, and have a hunt around there for a light bar.

hi there, have a look at this. LR Supermarket - Fuel & Emission Systems-Range Rover P38. this is about as cheap as a replacement fuel pump assembly is likely to get. drop the fuel tank, whip the old unit out and bang the new one in, simple. if the problem is being caused because the fuel line to the pump has rotted (very common) and your losing pressure and you feel a little more adventurous it can be repaired. if you feel it's the sort of work you can undertake i'll talk you through it.
