Fuel saver chip and installation

Found a fuel saver chip from eBay.  Basically it's a resistor type of chip to me and it short the air flow sensor to give ECU a consistent fake signal, as I can read from the instructions.  It claims it will add 10-20hp in power and save the gas by adding 5-10mph.  So two questions:
1. Has any of you ever used that before?  If so, what's return result?
2. How to get it installed on a 2003 Discovery, as mine one is using an air flow mass unit, I can't figure out which wire goes to intake air sensor.

Thanks!

Did you already buy the chip? How much was it?

I got two of them but found basically they are the same, one for $9.99 and another one $23.99 which claims better performance.

I think that you were taken, but I hope that I am wrong.
I do not know how to install them, sorry.
The air intake sensor will be on the airbox, most likely on the top of it.

Hey, you got what you paid for, a $10 chip of junk, they don't really work, just a waste of money.

I'd like to give it a try and see.  Can someone tell me where I find the two wires from the intake air sensor.  I have about five wires from the mass air flow module, but don't which two come from the intake air sensor, that where I need to plug in the chip.

Thanks,

You are going to damage your truck and am suggesting no one help you. We are not here to watch people screw up their truck and if you won't take our advice, I won't help.

you may want to purchase a new MAF sensor, it's my guess you'll lose yours. they are real touchy. Take Mike's advise...Don't do it... How much gas do you think you would save? she's rolling brick

Let's think about this logically folks.  If a $9.99 part (retail) gives you an extra 5-10 mpg why in the world would they not be a part of the original equipment.  There is a ton of pressure (economic, politicial, social, etc.) on auto makers to get the mpg higher.  If they could add an additional 5-10 mpg to a car's rating for something as inexpensive as a "magic chip" they would be doing it.

Further, at least here in the U.S., it would be all over the news, the auto stores, heck some places might even mandate the upgrade in an effort to be more pleasant to the environment.  I am not saying that everything sold at autozone, or wherever, is worthless when it comes to improving mpg or hp, but a one time fix for $10, really.  Take fuel additives for example.  Most tend to help mpg/hp within a tank or two, but your car will revert back to its former mpg/hp after a while w/o further maintenance.

There is a reason for the addage "If it's too good to be true, it probably is."  This is yet another excellent example.

Just my two cents.

The amazing thing about the "chip" is that people keep buying it. Land Rover's parts are too expensive to experiment with.

The magic word, "IF", it won't happen.

KeizerRover is using what we like to call "common sense".  This is exactly what the Ebay scammers hope you don't have.

A little off topic but since we are talking about improving fuel mileage does anyone know if snorkels on these trucks work kinda like a cold air intake since they draw air a good distance from the hot engine area?  Wouldn't you see some improved performance with that?

Good thought but the throttle-body is heated by the engine coolant to prevent icing in cold climates. So any cold air intake that you installed would be a mute point as the air would then just be heated by the t-body heater.

You need to buy the wiring kit, I'll sell you one for $50.  See below.
