On my 1983 110 Petrol 2 & 1/4 I have a problem that when going up hill the vehicle stalls due to lack of fuel. Due to a leak I have just had new petrol tank fitted, new pipes and due to poor starting a anti vapour device fitted along with new fuel pump, carb has been checked & refurbished. The garage concerned struggled to get it running smooth (lots of missing, hesitation & backfires) after 3 months...yes 3 months I managed to get it back and all seemed well, starts good, runs smooth untill I just try to go up hill!!!
Cany face taking it back to them any advice would be most welcome.
Thanks
Bob

What sort of carb do you have fitted, as it sounds like you may be having the problem there, esp if it is a weber. HAs it been stripped and rebuilt at all?

Another fault I have seen happen is if the fuel line crossed over the top of the engine, and when your straining the engine, the heat build up is enough to start to evaporate the fuel in the fuel line. Thus lack of fuel.

Could also be a weak fuel pump...or as Lighting 90 syas, fuel vapourisation across the hot engine or tthe carb is faulty
