Hello, I just bought a 99 Range Rover HSE and I was wondering about the gas pedal. It's takes alot of force to press down and give it gas. Is it normal for a range Rover peadal to be so stiff? If not, how can this be fixed? I would like it to be a little bit more responsive. Thanks for your suggestions.
Also, whats normal for gas milage, the dashboard says it getting 8.8 or 8.9 MPG. Is this normal or is there an engine problem?
Thanks Again

They are usually stiffer than most domestics, but I've always thought it was more of a firmer pedal, just like the steering and braking are. My buddy's Carolla on the other hand, feels like the gas pedal isn't attached to anything (very loose).

8 mpg is pretty bad.....even if I drive mine rough through the city for a week, I still get 13 or so

The gas pedal is stiff, but you should not be getting 8.8 or 8.9 MPG. There's a problem there..

disconnect it from the throttle body (no tools needed) and test the pedal cable
or checked for gumed up throttle body.

Never figure your gas mileage by the computer always use the old fashion way, miles divided by gallons usde.
