I have a 96 disco with 183k on it and latlly had had a lot of electrical gremlins. First my stater went then a few weeks later it seemed like my battery replaced that then it seemed like my alternator so I replaced that. Well a new battery starter and atl later I am still haveing a problem with the battery charging not to mention the dash lights acting wierd. The disco runs fine once cranked but doent seem like it is chargeing the battery. and cooling very well. I am replacing the idler pully tonight and hops this help but i am wondering if a I have a bad ground somwhere and thats what is causing the battery not to charge. any idea or suggesstions.
Your serpentine belt is routed incorrectly. It should do a 90 degree turn off the alternator, not run over the top of it.

if it is running and you pull the ground off your batt. then alt is working and belt is correct. Check the batt. cables for corrosion. they may be corroded inside and you can see it, you can check there resistance.
here is a belt diagram incase you need it though.

Hi Mike
Do you have the same diagram for a 99 Disco II with ACE? I want to replace my S belt.
Thanks

Thanks Mike
Is there also a diagram on what tensioner should be loosened first? It would be great to have this too.
I appreciate your help!

let the radio sit with the key on for an hour at least, (radio will display code on it for an hour or so w/o any interruptions) the try the code again, you get 3 try's then you have to wait with power to it for at least an hour to try again. to enter the code you simply just enter the 5 digit code. If you have the wrong code go to the dealer with the vin # and ask for it, they will give it to you.

don't understand, just loosen the tensioner and remove belt.
