I just bought a 1996 land rover discovery i find it to be very solid. i'm also trying to find the best lift kit for discovery that will allow it to flex very well without having to pay a large about of money.

3" coils from OME and some extended length shocks will give you the most lift you can get without new drive shaft. shocks and springs should run you around 6-7 hundred bucks. you can go cheap way and get some big bluse from DAP, and some spacers but you articulation will be less.

Does this answer your question about how "tough" the GM Hummer 2 really is?

that ram looks pretty messed up to me.
I do agree though, Disco's are pretty tough. We were sitting in my inlaws F350 crew cab long bed dually diesel and got backed into by a disco in a parking lot. Felt like we got hit by another F350 but looked back and it was a girl in a disco backing out of her parking spot.

Your right witecap4u The ram was preety messed up I guess I said that in contrast with chevy (cough) I mean hummer H2 I also agree with you Disco's are pretty tough. I was rear ended by a 1997 ford Expedition at almost 45 MPH on new year's night. My discovery which is a 1996 SE-7 only had a dented bumper the ford was crush like soda can BULIT FORD TOUGH HUH. when the impact occured It just felt like a gentle thump by the way the driver of the ford was drunk.

The disco has a very solid axle and frame, and look at how beefy the axles are, they are one ton axles, they are much stronger than the truck needs, the lug nuts are one and one sixteenth, about the sam size as a semi's, Now if they thought to make these areas so strong dont you think that the whole vehicle would be strong as well.

Madbilly your right it is a strong vehicle and the frame and axles are very beefy and stout The discovery is just overbulit.
