Because existing sources of auto reliability information left much to be desired, in late 2005 I started conducting my own reliability research at TrueDelta.com. TrueDelta reports absolute stats like "trips to the shop" that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so any significant changes in a model's reliability become apparent quickly.

So far 15 LR2 owners have signed up to participate. This is a good start, but more will be needed to provide a result.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, panel members receive full access to the results for free.

Up to 25. So probably a result in the next update, in August.

A few more participants would certainly help.

Recently posted that result. The sample size for the LR2 is just 15, so the result is asterisked for an insufficient sample size and visible only to members at the site itself. That said, it is notable that none of these 15 owners reported a repair.

With a larger sample size, we could provide a more precise result and make it publicly visible.

Updated results recently posted. The 2008 LR2 had a repair rate of 27 successful repair trips per 100 vehicles per year, which is better than average. The sample size was 20 this timebetter, but still a few below the minimum, so on the site this result is asterisked.

In other words, additional participants needed.
