Greetings,
I'm new to the forums as I just picked up an '04 Disco SE7 I've wanted for years. I love it completely excpet for I live in the Northeast United States and have to deal with many potholes and uneven roads as a result of winters. The standard size 255/55-18s fitted on my SE7 transmit much more vibration and harshness than the S model with 255/65-16s. So I'd like to fit a set of 255/65-18s but am wondering if I'd have any tire clearance problems without putting a lift kit in. Has anyone done this?
I'd love to put a 2" lift spacers in but I've got three years left on certified preowned warranty, so I don't want to modify anything (yet) and void my warranty.

I put larger tires on mine and it did not void the warranty. I dont know about suspension upgrades though, i hope that doesnt void it because i'm about to put a lift on mine as well. I cant answer your other question though.
What size tires did you put on? Did you have any problems with the tires rubbing against the wheel well openings? That's what I'm looking to find out

I think that youll be ok, you arent going that much taller.
If I remember right you can up-size by 2 from the standard size without any mods. That goes for any car. Double check with the tire shop though.

I used to be a Rover service manager and the word I had from Rover was a 2" lift was OK and would not void any warranty other then the parts included in the lift. Call your service manager and ask him what the zone office policy is.
Thanks Mike, I may have to wait on the lift kit for now for $$ reasons but am going to do tires as soon as possible. I want to do the tires asap though, and I'm guessing 255/65-18s will clear okay without the lift kit but wanted to get some opinions - whaddya think?

I put 29x10.50x15 on mine and yes they did rub so i trimmed the front bumper and theres no rubbing anymore. But i really wouldnt go over 29" tires on stock suspension. Just wait until you can afford a lift and buy 30's or 31's.

I have an 04' Disco SE7. It came stock with 255/55-18. I upsized due to the same reasons...Pacific Northwest potholes....I went with 255/65-18, I can get you the model of tire if you need as well. It did fine. My vehicle does not have an extended warranty so I wasn't worried about voiding a warranty.
This being said, I agree with the fellow Disco owners on this site, do not take my word for it and do the research... starting at your local Land Rover shop.
