Hello,
This really sucks. I lost my only key to my 02 SE7 Disco. I think my only option is to tow ($150) the fricken truck to the dealer so they can put it in my butt for the $130 key and $110 programming. They say the labor is an hour to program a key. Wow what a rip off. I asked them why it takes an hour and they were beating around the bush. The Land Rover dealer is a racket!!
Is there any other option than this?
It shouldnt cost $400 when you loose your keys.
Can these remotes be programmed by the common man?
Thanks

I bought a key without a remote in it for ~$25 from the dealer.

Keep a second key!!
You can get a key code number from your dealer and have a local lock smith cut you a new key.
Lets talk about the dealer. If you were him and had to pay over $32,000 dorroars for the test book to do the programing what would you charge, especialyy if you wanted to stay in business?

Also, you can check on ebay for a key fob/remote. I bought mine on there for ~$40... and my dealer programmed it for $60. Good Luck.

I just bought the whole Alarm/starter kit/ wireless key from Ebay for $40 USD. Don't pay over $100 when you don't have to.
Also, my 1999 Disco II only came with one key and no remote :(
