I just read your post. I'm not sure how you getting all of those info but it is really good and useful - Thank You very much
Ok, you confirm my thoughts that probably dealer charges around $500 just for the installed. The next question I would have if I be able to install this part myself and most of all would I be able to purchase this part from the dealer without buying the installation? I have some car mechanic background and also I come from electronic and computer world and depending on difficulty of the installation I probably would be able to install it myself - now I would really depend on your info and comments to find out how hard would be to install such a system. The most concerns I have is to taking off the dashboard parts. I did that once before on different car and you have to be really careful to not to brake all of the clips that hold each dashboard piece. I tried to find out some diagram/drawings showing how everything is clipped together but I was unsuccessful.
If you could help me with above issue I would really appreciate. I hope I will be able to get this running in not time, that's why I thanks for all your help.

Uh, I ask a lot of questions? I don't see any reason why a dealer would not sell you the parts without the install. If one dealer says no, call another. I doesn't take a computer backgound or much of car mechanic background to do this install. It's like installing a car stereo. In fact, I checked with a local stereo installer and they said the job would be pretty easy, that's why I decided to do it myself. Go out to your truck and try to remove the panel that surrounds the radio and air con controls. If you can get that off, your about one third of the way into seeing all of the teardown.

Thank you for your info.
I called dealer and they charge about $630 for the part. I think will get this however I also looked and the Bluetooth from Parrot and this kit offers viewing and dialing from the phone contact list. The only downside of the Parrot is that I would have to install another small LCD display somewhere on dashboard, and also as of right now Parrot doesn't have a hares for LR3 so I wont be able to mute the radio(which I really like and want) and use onboard microphone. The good part about it is that you could by Parrot for about $170 - and it gives much more options then LR3 factory kit. Do you know if Land Rover plans to upgrade if it is doable the operating system so receiving call and contact list would be displayed on (eg.GPS) screen using just the Bluetooth not the cradle?

I'm not familiar with the Parrot system and I seriously doubt your going to see any upgrades come from Land Rover. I personaly would not want to mount another display screen on the dash but, you should be able to mute the radio. I don't have a wiring diagram on this system but, most new car stereos have a mute function built in. A wire from the hands free system will plug into the the radio and cause it to mute, You should be able to also use the front speakers to hear calls. Your need to mount another microphone but I'm sure that comes with the system.
I'm partial to Land Rover equipment even though there might be a somewhat better (and much cheaper) after market solution.

You would know by any change where I could get some diagrams or pictures how to remove the radio console covers and the steering wheel.
Also do you know if there is some kind of Ipod integration kit similar to what BMW have where you can operate Ipod on your radio?

The only source for workshop manuals is the subscription based Landrover Global Technical Reference. But the instalation instructions for the Bluetooth kit (and all other kit) are available on the same sight for free. On two occasions the instructions for the Bluetooth kit refernece the workshop manual. Well, it doesn't actually say that, it gives some hirogralyphics (sp?) of an eyeball looking at a book. The two items refer to removing the trim piece behind the front piece that surrounds the radio and the air con controls. It's not neccessary to use the manual, once you remove the radio and air con controls it's easy to see the 4 (I think) screws that hold in this next piece and the couple more clips. I paid the $12.00 or so to see the manual for 24 hours so that I could remove the drivers air bag. The "special tool" can be fashioned out of a metal coat hanger or other light steel rod. Make a hook, 90 deg. bend about 1/4 inches deep. Slip this into the rectangular slot on either side of the wheel, with the hook pointing back at the driver, engage the spring retainer and pull your hook outward. You'll see the unit pop out slightly, repeat on the other side, disconnect the wires and your done. To replace, reconnect the wires and push it back into position, no need for your special tool. Obviously, make sure you have followed the correct procedure to DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BEFORE STARTING THIS WORK.
Nothing for the Ipod on the radio only the aux. input.

Hello
I went to the dealer to order the kit however I was told that I also need to buy a voice controll unit that cost another $300 so everything will add up to $800. Do you know if LR3 has that voice controll unit already built in?

It sound like you had the same sitiutation '05 LR3 that did not come with BT. I just want to be sure you installed those two parts and you ware able to use the blue tooth, did you had to do anything else?

That's it.
If you buy this kit, you will see that a "leg" of the wiring harness terminates under the shifter. This would be the bundle that would go to the center arm rest cradle. The really cool fix would be to splice this end of the wiring harness into a data cable for your particular cell phone. You could then lead that cable to a much more convenient location, like the little bin under the ash tray. This would give you all of the phone functions on the radio display (if your radio has the phone icon) without the limitation of having to use just the phones for which LR accomodates.

Hello
I called the dealer for the pricing and they told me that two parts will cost me around $750

. Can you tell me where you ordered your parts so maybe I could go to the same place. Dealer also told me that before I order the parts to check if my LR3 doesn't have already installed the wire harness because some of them ware already shipped with it (part # VUB501152). I'm not sure if that is correct? Also do you have any diagram or instruction how to remove plastic around the radio console - this will be my next project I guess before I order the parts.

I bought from Land Rover South Dade, Miami Florida. The instructions for all of the Land Rover kit are on the Land Rover Owners websight,
http://www.ownerinfo.landrover.com/extfree2viewlrprod/index.jsp Page through the list untill you see the phone kit. This is all of the instructions that you need to remove dash panels
Having the wiring harness already installed would make little difference unless the compsosition of the kit has been changed. You still need the steering wheel switch, microphone, control box, and the voice control module.

I looked over the instruction and the installation look very intensive, how long it took you to install this?

Good question socalr3. I'll check it out after Monday and post a reply.. The LR3 is up on jack stands right now and I don't want to be climbing around in it at the moment.
We were out on a trail Saturday and lost a tire. The spare, as it turned out, was a doughnut spare and only lasted about a mile before it blew out. Luckily there was another LR3 in the group and we made it home on his full sized spare. We're all trying to figure out why one LR3 had a full-size wheel and spare and the other did not. Luckily there was a dealer rep with us who was already on the phone and checking it out as we drove back to the city.
Easy question to answer:
The other LR3 had a full sized spare because it had the Heavy Duty Package. Pkg comes with a rear locking diff, and a full sized spare.

just fitted one of these rr blue tooth units to my 2006 sport took aprox half hour to fit and 3 hours to get the steering wheel off
the only bolts or screws on these motors to do this job are 4 on radio 2 on hazard lights surround 4 on aircon unit controls one on steerin wheel one behind air bag sign on the door pillar every thing else just pulls off wirings comonsence exept took me ten minutes to figerout that the blue wires were to take place on cigar lighter
would of been easy to take wheel off if ide of had a slim piece of steel to go through hole in the wheel sides with a grove in to hook on the springs an pull i use a fashioned coat hanger described on this forum but took me ages to hook it keeped bending as you have to pull quite hard <was like fishing the bleeder kept getting off>
all works fine
