I have a 95 Discovery that has been running rough and is progressively getting worse. Here are the problems:

1) When It is Cold, it will not idle. I have to give it gas for about 2-3 minutes (once it starts to warm a little) before it will idle on it's own
2) It will misfire frequently
3) It will backfire out the intake (blows hard out of the airbox)
4) If it is very warm (driven for 20 min or more). It will either not restart, or it will run VERY VERY rough (very little power)
5) Even when it is running somewhat decent, if I floor it, the tac will climb somewhat and then misfire

I have:
Replaced Both 02 Sensors
Switched out to Magnecor 8mm's
Switched out to Bosch Platinum +4's
Seafom Induction Cleaning
Cleaned the Throttle Body
Replaced the Coolant Temperature Sensor (and flushed the coolant)
Replaced the Fuel Temperature Sensor (http://www.roverparts.com/TechTips/hot_start_problems.cfm)
Run Premium Gas for at least the last 10 tanks
Used Seafoam in the tank about every 3-5 tanks

I was getting a Code 15 (fuel temp sensor)
Also since replacing the O2's I have gotten both code 44 and 45 (left and right O2's) but never together
The CEL is sometimes on, but most of the time it is not.

I talked with Disco mike a week ago and he suggested a compression test, which I am going to do this weekend, once I have my friend here to help me. But in the meantime are there any ideas about this? If the compression test comes back with a low compression cylinder, then what do I do? And if the compression test, checks out fine???

thanks in advance

Sounds like a fuel or spark problem?  Check your fuel pressure/filter like already suggested.  If OK, check coil with ohm-meter.  Since it's backfiring out the intake, make sure the timing is set correctly and firing order is right.

Turns out the fuel pump was bad.  I replaced the Pump and Filter and it runs like a champ again.

Replacing the fuel pump was easy.  I used the kit from Atlantic British.

thanks for all of the help
