I polled the forum to see how these perform prior to buying, but nobody had tried them yet, or didn't respond to my post. I put them on yesterday, and here is my impression. (I had Bilsteins on my last discovery to compare)

These cost $33 per shock at Checker or Advance, etc. On the street, they are pretty comfortable, a little more stiff than the factory shocks, but much better cornering and handling. I think the Bilsteins repsond better on the street, but not enough to warrant twice the price.

As for off-road use, I can't remember how heavy duty the Bilsteins were, but the Monroes are a smaller piston than the stockers.

All in all, I'm very happy with the quality of ride on the street, and glad I saved the money.

Hi everyone

Anyone tried the KYB-GR2 on a 99 Disco II? Also I know this is a stupid question coming from "oh not so technical", but I checked the instructions and it mentions pumping the pistons as the nitrogen seems to settle. However after pumping there is quite a bit of play here? Is this normal? Should it be be movable with simply pushing down so easily. I am having a mechanic install them though.

Hello,
New Member and new owner of Disco II 99. My disco seems to really hit hard in dips just on the road and sways pretty good around corners almost a bouncing motion. I am not sure if it needs new shocks but I figured I would replace them pretty soon. The shocks on it know look like orginals and it has 87000 on it. I guess my main question was, do you notice the bobbing around corners or large clunks going through dips, and yes this is at slow speeds. Second, How long did it take you to install the new shocks. Finally, thanks for the info on the Monroe shocks.
