My Disco leans to the right

Thought I was imagining it at first but my Landrover Discovery leans to the right. On the left hand side there's about 10 inches from wheel to arch but on the right only about 4 inches from wheel to arch. This might not sound a lot but gives the whole vehicle a noticable right lean. What is likely to cause this? Is it something to worry about?

What year, how many miles and have you replaced your springs yet?

If you are running a later model Disco with the Air Bellow suspension, it is likely that one of them has gone...I suggest scrapping them all together and get in to some heavy duty Coils.  I did this and the performace has increased 10 fold!  Note that when you do this the left coil is always going to be slightly larger than the right one.  I guess the idea is that you drive on the left had side which will cause the vehicle to lean ever so slightly to the left when you are in it.

I have run trails that most Disco owners would not consider and would replace the SLS for any amount, better ride, more control and the ability to raise the rear end when coming of a 4 foot waterfall.
Just a difference in option, but well proven.

It really is a matter of opinion, I agree...I just know that the bellows for my 2001 Disco are about $400 for the set without installation.  On the flip side, I replaced them with ARB coils and its possible that the compressor is causing my battery to die periodically.  The Bosch computer may or may not be smart enough to know that it has been unhooked!  I guess the best option for me is to suck it up and take my ride to Land Rover so that they can plug me in to their AutoLogic or whatever LR machine they have.  This is the only true way to get in to a Land Rover...

When converting to coils, you must go into the ECU and shut off the SLS system.

It's a 1994 model (deisel). Is it a dangerous condition or can it wait for the next MOT?
I'm going to demonstrate how thick I am now. Please can you define heavy duty Coils and SLS?
One other thing, I can feel (but not hear) a very slight knocking over bumps. Could this be something to do with it?
 
I assume that both sides would need doing? I once had a Series 2 that leaned to the left so replaced the spring and then it leaned to the right LOL so had to get a right one anyway. Mind you that Series 2 was a prehistoric thing compared top the Discovery!

This is what the SLS has instead of coils...They are bags of air that the River rides on.  You can raise them a little but as with most "dynamic" parts, they are prone to failure.  This is why I suggested going to the fail-safe coils.  You will also get about 1.5 to 2 inches on lift fromt the HD model.

Sounds like you have a broken spring, it is not safe and you should look at having it inspected and replace the springs if one is in fact broken.
Always replace spring in sets, not one at a time.

Thanks fellahs. The lean is still the same but the knocking feels worse. I'll jack her up and take a look at the weekend if this weather eases up. We have 70 mph winds and freezing rain at the moment. Not good for someone like me without a garage. I'm not sure what I'll be looking for but I'll have a feel around :)
Is the fault most likely to be at the front or the rear?

Not sure how my car compares, but my 95TDi Right hand drive (Australia) Disco has a slight lean to the right.  Always has, even with all new springs a year or two ago.  A few mechanics have commented on it at rego inspections but always let it pass.  My landrover mechanic has checked it out and said there is nothing obviously wrong, and it is common for Land rovers to have a slight lean.  One day I will have alook at the body spacers and see if that is where the problem is - but until then i am happy with a lean!

You could have put the front spring in wrong, they are usually marked as to which one goes on which side.
You can also install a spacer to level it out, quick and easy.
