nikasil vrs alusil

Hey are there any BMW experts out there that can back me up with some facts about the well known issue of mid 90s BMW aluminum motor bores treated with nikasil, and the eventual change to alusil as used by PORSCHE?

Nikasil is a finer grain finish; Alusil or Alumasil is not as fine, but less expensive. LR sleeves appear to be Nikasil treated...draw your own conclusions...
