I'm interested in taking my 2000 Disco off-road, but I want to make sure I don't take someplace that it's not ready for. It's stock, no off-roads mods (yet). It does not have the adjustable suspension feature.
What kind of stuff could I do with this? Obviously, I probably don't want to take it rock climbing without some shielding or whatnot, but is there anything special I should be thinking about?
Also, if a body were considering some off-road mods, what would you start with? I was thinking my first bet would be shielding for steering and differential, but I'm not an expert by any means.

First area to protect is the steering bars at the front. Followed by a wading kit to raise all the vents for the axles and gearbox to at least allow some wading to take place. Then protection to the diffs followed by a snokle for those very deep wading..
Then you get more onto the special stuf of rock sliders etc, and raising the suspension.
