ok i was driving on the highway and all of a sudden the car starts to skip or misfire. or atleast thats how it felt.

once i got home and and looked at the engine bay and all i can see was the missing oil cap. i checked the oil and it looks good its full. and there are no oil spashes on the hood or any other mess.

i am the one that changes the oil on our disco II so there's no one to blame but me.

anyways... would this be problem of the misfiring feel i felt.

i am heading to the LR dealership tomorrow to see if they have a replacement in stock.

Save yourself a drive and first call the dealer and make sure he has the cap.
No, the cap missing will not cause the engine to miss or run rough.
Do you have a check engine light?

So your engine does have a problem, it will be interesting to see what fault code they find.

i hope there are no major problems. i also i thought there is a difference between the "service engine soon" and "check engine" lights?
also i heard the hesitation i am feeling at around 70mph could be the Vehicle Speed Sensor thats going bad which is an easy fix.

any info?

what kind of truck is this '99 d-II, do you hear the zip zip sound at the rear quarter panel when you hit the button and thirdly is the key in the ignition and in the off position when you hit it????
seen alot of rods pop off but mostly the 3.00 dollar piece of s--t fall off or get weak on the door itself also make sure the rubber piece is supporting the pin once you get the door open from the body hole or the rod will fall into the quarter panel

There is only one warning light on the D2's, it says service engine soon, it is not a mileage activated light but a fault driven light indicating that the ECU has stored a fault code that needs to be checked and corrected. If it is flashing, it is to be done ASAP.
