Oil Changing

Hi,

I am new in this forum. My sister 2002 range rover just exceed the dealer warranty.
My question is do you have any DIY for changing the oil?
Also do you know how to reset the electronic?

I dont know is it the right place to ask this question.

Auto Parts Information can surely give you the answer. Or how about taking your car to the nearest auto mechanic to assist you in changing te oil or retaining the electronics.

I want to do it myself (DIY) and for the elctronic reset ussually they have some kind of manual procedure so you dont have to bring to the dealer or shop to reset the electronic.

So anyboy know the DIY and how to reset the electronic?

Honestly, what kylle08 was hinting at is, if you don't know how to change the oil, you probably shouldn't be messing with cars and let a professional take care of it. Not to be mean in any way, but changing the oil is one of the simplest tasks you could do to a car, if you are looking for a guide to do it, then yea, it would honestly be better for the car in the long run to leave it to the professionals, just in case you botch something up. Oil changes run what 20 bucks now? If you were that determined to learn to do it, find someone that you know to show you how to physically do it, or there is google, a simple search will give you plenty of answers...if you don't know how to do the oil, definitely don't mess with the "electronic".

If you would read his post you would see his concern was not doing the oil change but how to reset the timer, do you know how to reset a Rangies timer, no, does that mean you are dumb and shouldn't do it????
The guy has a good question and so far no one has come close to giving him any help.

SII Reset Procedure

1. Ensure that the ignition is switched off.

2. Press and hold the LH instrument pack button.

3. With the button held, switch the ignition on to position I (AUX).

4. Continue to hold the LH instrument pack button for a further 5 seconds,
until the "SIA RESET" appears.

5. The message centre will display the distance to service status as "RESET SIA: 3600km/mls"
and "INSPECTION".

6. Press and hold the LH button for another 5 seconds. 'RESET" flashes in the message center.

1.If the LH button is not pressed again before the fifth flash of "RESET",
the reset will not be performed.
The message center will display the existing distance to service data for 5 seconds,
followed by "END SIA" for 2 seconds, and then switch off.

2. If the LH button is pressed before the fifth flash of "RESET", the service distance will be reset.
The message center will display the new service distance " END SIA: 25000km/miles" for 5
seconds, followed by "END SIA" for 2 seconds, and then switch off.

7. Then switch the ignition off.



After a reset the SII cannot be reset again until the instrument pack registers the vehicle has used
20% of the fuel required to travel the normal distance to the next service.
Fuel required to travel the distance is stored in the instrument pack EEPROM,
and varies with engine type.
The V8 is 1075 U.S. gallons or 4075 liters fora normal distance of 15635 miles or 25000 kms.
