Has anyone pulled a boat without the HD package? Just wondering if you can still pull the boat out of the water no prob without the rear locking diff. Do you just leave it in normal mode?

ya i pulled my boat 21ft inboard o about 3k lbs no problem

as long as you dont have the v6 shouldnt be a problem at all

Okay good to know, I've got a V8 too so it shouldn't be a problem.

The Rear Locking Diff mostly comes into play when the LR3 is in cross axle situations. Pulling the boat up a man-made ramp should keep all 4 tires in contact with the surface at all times. You wont even notice the difference between an LR3 with RLD and one without under those conditions!
I would only add to what was said earlier that the correct setting on your terrain response should be grass/gravle/snow with low range selected.

I've got a V6 LR3, and it pulls our boat with no problems, up the ramp or down the highway into the wind.
My wife even pulled the trailer onto a 2ft pole..........about $300 for a new fender....that's a whole other story, tho.

The only reason to have bought a V6 when new was to save some money. It takes a huge cut in BHP and torque compared to the V8 and only gives "1 more MPG" to show in return. That has to be the most ridiculous V8 to V6 choice I have seen in any vehicle line. As the vehicles get older however, the price gap from the V8 to the V6 gets smaller with every passing year so the V6 will only become harder to sell as a used vehicle. The V6 does well enough but the V8 is a whole different beast.
