I just bought a can of "Glacier Ice auto air conditioning R-134A refrigerant+"(with oil and leak sealer) and am now thinking twice about recharging my own system using this product. WHY? Well, I figure that with Land Rover pretty much everything is Land Rover specific and I am starting to have second thoughts! Anyone out there used this type of refrigerant or any other similar product and how did it work? This can comes with a guage to tell you when to stop adding the
refrigerant---thought that could be a plus!

How did you test your a/c to determine it needs freon, what is it doing??

I have not tested it yet, I only know that the air is not very cold anymore and figured that this was the cure. Am I wrong to assume this? Everything is in good operating condition so far. No crazy sounds coming from anywhere and the fan is blowing strong.

Check you A/C compressor first to see if it works when the A/C is on "on". If you're around the engine compartment when someone in the car turns on the A/C, you'll hear a "click" and will notice some noise from the compressore. Unfortunately because of a shroud, you won't see the A/C pulley turning. If are going to do this PLEASE make sure you don't have any loose clothing ( like a neck tie ) before you go snooping under the hood with a running engine.

You may be right, trouble is if you recharge it, it will leak down again at some point so this is a short term fix. I would use the freon that doesn't contain any sealer first and see how long it holds up. I am concerned about the sealer and if it will gum up the works. What ever you do, don't over charge the system.

Well, I checked the pressure and everything is good. I do not need to add any of this coolant and will be returning it to the store. I guess my next step is to check and if needed replace the compressor. Thanks again to all who have replied to this thred. --Good luck and many thanks---JR

What exactly is your complaint with the a/c?
There is a self test you can run on the a/c in your truck, send me your e-mail address and I will send you a copy of it.

Yeah don't ever use any of that freon with "magic sealer" in it. It will just cause more problems later on, it's only a temporary fix. I've not been on the A/C forum in a long time but it was very helpful the last time I used it. Maybe they can give you some direction in your A/C issues?
