anyone experience a problem in the freelander where the rear seat can't be raised after put down. any remedies?

Hi, I assume you've pushed the seat base release levers?

Had the same issue. The base would go back ok, but the back would only go to 45 degrees.
the mechanism to engage the under hooks was getting jammed. It's located under the plastic hinge cover in the center. remove it, and you will see the levers moving. the inner one was getting stuck. pushing it to the rear & it operated fine. a bit of greese appears to do the trick.
