There is no question that K&N filters are good but be warned there is a dark side, I just ruined my MAF (mass air flow) Senor yesterday because I apparently put too much oil on my filter after I cleaned it, I didn't think I did but then it is really close to the MAF. Fortunately I had a spare one but they are not cheap so hopefully my experience will save someone else from learning it the hard way as I did.

Perhaps K&N could respond to this thread? MAFS oil contamination from their filters?
Thanks,

I hear about this happening all the time. You can't over oil the filter. Really you should just use as little as possible

I went thru 2 MAF's under warranty on my 99 before I figured it out. I would even go the the extent of soaking up all excess oil on the filter by wrapping them in newspaper for a few hours. The paper really would soak up alot, but not enough.
When you think about it, The volumn of air going thru that filter under full throttle could cause a thin film of oil to build up and trashing the MAF.
