I am thinking about buying a late 90s RR. 1997 and up. I have about 15,000 to spend. What kind of maintenance is required on these vehicles. My main interest is to own a vehicle that can haul my 2 horse trailer and horse to horse shows and my bike to downhill races. Love the vehicle and test drove a new one and an LR3 but what are the old ones like. Because this is a high cost car when it is brand new...the maintenance must be expensive? Please help guide me with any and all comments.

You don't say where you are located. If in the states, be prepared to pay more for little items than you do for most other vehicles. My '95 RR needed some new turn signal bulbs. The part number in the manual had to be special orderd and cost $8, where I instead when through the parts bin and found the same bulb, but brass base versus silver, for only $1 each. Air suspension will fail. You dealer will love you if you rely on them for tune-ups and oil changes.

Don't get me wrong. I love my RR. I wish it carried more long-term quality for what I paid for it though. I would say, just as a guess, set aside $1,500 a year for general repairs. There will be some years you won't spend that much, and other when you do.

Range Rovers are a disease. I have three. 89, 89 91. Can't afford the dealer for repairs. I hate the sons-of-bitches.
I hate the cars. So why can I not live without them???
Sickness.

i don't know too much about the old RRs. but the new ones wouldn't be bad at all for maintanence, but then again, its 70,000 or more, where are you from sallymander? what kind of bike and horse do you have?

No one loves Land Rovers more than I.........I'm on my third it's an 05' RR.... ..BUT I would think hard before owning a used one without a warranty, particularly if I did not know the previous owner
