Hi, we just bought a freelander. Have had it 48 hours maybe. We dont have a manual yet but one is ordered. The traction control light came on in the dash with "TC and the car symbol pointed downhill" in yellow. What does that mean? If the button for traction control is up, does that mean its off? I was not traveling up or down hill. I did stop at the stop sign and then it went off only to come on again at the next stop. Help!

I am having the same problem with my 2002 frelander. I have been told the brake light switch. that did not fix it. I have noticed that if brak dust has accumulated this will turn these lights on. try and put the the vehicle in drive, but do not take your foot off the brake and then put the vehicle back into park and then take your foot off the brake and see if it goes off. this works for me most of the time. also beware when my TC and orange downhill lights are on my windsheild wipers and rear brake lights do not work. If you find the true cause of this, let the rest of us that are having the problem know how it was fixed.

I have had this happen to me several times. If I turn off the engine and restart, the light goes out. It would be nice to find out the real problem.

I had the same problems. All lights would come on then just a select few. TC, Hill Decent, etc the next time ABS, SRS, yadayada yada. turns out it was my ignition was failing on contact. $330 dollars later and all seems well. Bye the way the failing of the ignition also gave me a F$ code on my odometer which is for the transmission but it turns out the code was from the igtntion cylinder failinig. Try wigglinging the ignition cylkinder around when started and see if all the lights start appearing and that could be the problem.

Never happened on mine. Only thing that happened was the "Brake" light was on, so I thought it was the parking brake lever was sticking and the light wasn't going off. About two-three weeks later I was hearing metal-on-metal and my brake pads were out. Replaced them and light went off.
