I just went through this on my 99 Disco 2. I was running drilled/slotted rotors, and carbon fiber pads. I had lots of rear pad left, but was down to about 3mm on the fronts (still in spec). Changed the pads to factory pads all around, and had the dealer clear the errors (front right ABS sensor had variable output). One week and 300 miles later, all is still well. Dealer commented that they see more of these errors with the slotted/drilled rotors (but no attempt to get me to change).

So I have the same thing as well. I can hear a ringing noise coming from the ABS housing area, even when the vehicle is shut off. I also have to pump the brakes to get a solid braking effect to take place. I have not had the rotors/pads looked at yet. Any ideas on the ringing part?

Thanks,
Ryan

Hi Mike,

I live in South africa in the middle of the Kalahari - far from dealers etc that can help. I seem to have the same problem as mentioned in this thread.

My brakes squeak and quite clearly need to be replaced. Today, all 3 lights came on, so I assume that it is time to tackle the job.

Can you assist me in going through the replacement step by step. I hope to have the parts here by the end of the week. Am I correct in saying that at this stage all I need to order is the brake discs and a set of pads?

Craig
