I was reading somewhere that H2s had Tahoe frames and H3s have Trail Blazer frames I know GM makes Hummers so they are going to save money and do something like that.
But how much does Ford influence the making of LRs? I hope I am not driving around on a Expedition frame!!!! I looked up some articles covering the acquisition of LR by Ford from BMW, but it didnt say anything about how Ford may change certain aspects of the LR.
Anybody know if LR still has the freedom to make their own designs without input from Ford????
Also engines, I know the RR used to have Corvette engines, I find it odd that a company that is owned by Ford putting Corvette engines in the trucks, although I do realize a Corvette engine (depending on which one) is better than anything Ford makes. Any ideas???

just some tidbits and impressions that i picked up reading various things:

Even with the complete LR3 redesign, ford allowed a body and frame design, uinlike any other ford out there (unibody).
With all of the QC issues coming out of the old plants, Ford threatened to take over the management and then only as a last resort move would LR be brought 'in house'.
BUT it looks like the freelander is going to be converted over to a common small car platofrom next year (i think it will have the same platform as the focus)

I know that the LR3 is available in a six cylinder which is a FORD engine off the older explorers...

No Chev motors in the RR.
4.4L was from BMW in the RR.
All other new motors come from Jag.
Ford has helped with $ for LR and let LR do its own thing.

Rover has used old Buick engines forever, no Corvette engines.
Ford is looking a redoing the Defender to EPA and DOT spec's bring it to the US as a new model, they were putting large amounts of money into Rover, improved quality control and are adding some of their Europian diesels to Rovers for countrys other then ours.
Up to now, what Ford has done has been good and with their financial problems they me be forced to sell Rover as they are with Jag.

i agree with both mikes on here.

i can't wait till LR2 gets here! they are cool!

i don't think ford will get rid of lr or jag anytime soon, i would guess aston martin would be first to go.
