Hi,

I'm new to this forum, but I hope I can contribute...

I had a question about Disco roof racks; the only ones I see seem to be one level, but I like the ones from the XD or Trek that match the two level conture (sp?) of the roof. Are these only available from LR?, and do they actually bolt through the roof rather than using gutter mounting? Lastly, how much weight will the factory ladder hold?

Thanks in advance

If your looking for a roof rack try the ones from thule. They make a taller leg (which mounts to the gutter) which helps clear the rear roof. I use them all the time to carry 2x4's, copper pipe, anything over 8'...... You can find them at any bicycle/outdoor store. You can also attach a variety of metal baskets to rails...

Hope this helps..

I came in with two questions, one of which was answered with the Thule (1-2 level) rack, secondly I'm curious if the racks have ample space for the open sunroof lid.

Thanks,

Hi...did you find a rack and if so what do you recommend for my Disco 00-SE7, brand, roof/gutter mount?? I also posted a question about the sunroof, if you can in fact open it with a larger mount rack?

Many thanks,

Im not 100% sure, but from what i've seen I think you will still be able to open the sunroofs

If you do a google on land rover roof racks you should come up with an outfit
in Portland, OR . I think they are Northwestparts.com. They have an extensive
line of roof racks for Rovers and a lot less than factory. I was going to get one
from them but unfortunately I have standard garage doors that will not allow
me to pull in with the rack on. Would have cost me next to nothing to have the doors
be 6 inches taller when I built the house but didn't have the Discovery then ! My
short little Audi convertible wasn't crying out for more garage headroom !

Check in with British Pacific in California. Their custom racks are great.

I have a Garvin wilderness roo rack. It mounts to the gutters. The front sunroof opens completely, the rear sunroof will tilt but not slide all the way. I installed some dog kennel flooring to mine so it is like a little deck. I have had as many as four grown people in lawn chairs on it. Its also for sale at the moment if anyone is interested. hope it helps...

Someone posted a reply to my message titled "DISCO 2 ROOF RACK!!!!" in the wanted section and told me the name of the manufacturer of that roofrack that you speak of, but i forget......you can check there, it is my favorite as well.....As for the ladder they will definetely hold your weight, but I wouldnt have two people standing on it, thats just asking for trouble.....the ladder, rack, brush guard, and tailight covers all make for a great matching combo on the disco 2......have any pics of your 911 or interested in selling it???
