Hey there guys! I am also looking at getting a 2001 LR Discovery II in the 30-40k miles range. From your experience what are some of the first things that need to be fixed at that mileage. I know parts are going to be a little more than the average car but honestly do the LR need the repairs like most the domestics cars?

Thanks Guys

if the previous owners took good care of the vehicle as far as oil changes and stuff, nothing should need to be fixed unless you just want to put a new set of spark plugs or something. maybe some new tires unless it already has some new ones.

The only thing I would do as a matter of course is change the timing belt, it is due soon anyway.. and give it a good service with fresh oils to the engine, gearboxes and axles, with new oil fuel and air filters..

JP is from the States and has the Petrol push rod V-8. No fuel filter or timing belt. It has A chain which is very robust, no service needed. I agree with Lightings advise to change the fluids. The diff's and transfer box use synthetic gear oil ! Also might want to have A Dealer check for open service actions and Recalls, there are several.

Happy trails !

i figured they would be a SOHC, instead of pushrod, no wonder they didn't have much horsepower
