Greetings, I have a '96 4.0 that needs a new motor.  I would like to add a supercharger - does anyone know of a source?  Any help is appreciated.

H i, I have a 2000 Discovery with a 4.0. I would be interested in any info on a supplier for superchargers also.

It appears there was one made for it by Eaton some years back but they were prone to burning out pistons so they never really caught on and are now very hard to find.  According to a local shop here that specializes in Land Rovers, one of the key ways to get more from the 4.0 is to change the cam to one offered by Crane cams, the first 'step-up' which noticably improves power but does not drastically effect timing, idle, etc.  I am looking into that.

The worst thing you could ever do to ANY of the Discovery engines is to install ANY type of forced air induction system.  These things have extremely weak head gaskets that are prone to give up the ghost even under normal driving, why would you want to stress it out any further? The most you would get is a repair bill from the dealership, or the bill of a new engine and a lot of time and money wasted. If you want further proof that this is not a good idea talk to DiscoMike about it- he's an ex-rover mechanic, but be prepared for the possible laughter that will ensue afterwords.

If you are looking for more power and need a new motor anyway, just drop a 4.6 in.
