VS.

1986 Ford Bronco II XLT

I am wanting to do a full comparison test on these two vehicles. off and on road abilities.
the bronco is a 2.9 L V6 OHV and the freelander i am sure most of you know is a 2.5 L V6 24V DOHC. my money goes to the land rover. that bronco is awesome though, i was off roading in it one time, got in a rut and my back driver tires was way in the air. my friend told me the bottom of the tire was at his chest as he stood next to it.

i failed to mention the bronco has low range, a feature the freelander unfortunately lacks.

depends. for rock crawling type stuff id go with the Bronco . but if i were to attempt the Baja 1000, id go with the Freelander.

that is the way i look at it. the bronco is easier to get parts for and they are cheaper. it is already kind of a junker but it runs great and has a cold a/c. i'm not so afraid to be going down a dirt road and decide i want to make my own road instead in it. however, all my friends tell me that the freelander still has a nice factory warranty. they fail to see that abuse voids warranties.

You can put additonal protection on the freelander to protect it when off roading. They are getting used a lot more here in the UK, and when it comes to damaging a vehicle, it depends how rich you are and how determined you are at using the vehicle to it's max. I know someone who uses is £60,000 plus top of the range, Range Rover, (still less than one year old) off road in some seriously tricky situations, but he has a lot of the extra's fitted and approved by Land Rover, which means his warranty will not be voided...

the only thing wrong with the bronco is a cracked dash and hail damage. runs great! 96,000 miles
