Just bought a new "left over" 2006 LR3 SE V8. I am in Texas but the car is coming from Chicago as I got it there for about 8k less than a similar model here in TX. I am a Jeep man at heart and have a "rock ready" Wrangler that I do my wheeling in. Hopefully my wife will someday let me stretch the legs on our new LR3. I love forums as they have always been a wealth of information and this one looks no different.

Well, welcome to the family, doo. I take mine out quite regularly and since mine came with rear lockers, the only thing I've had to do is get rid of those highway Wrangler HP's and replace them with some real AT tires to make it truly off-road worthy. You should enjoy the ability of the LR3. It's a fun vehicle

So far so good, except gas mileage. We ar eaveraging about 12 mpg but it only has 2k on the clock and it was 11 mpg on the first couple of tanks. The Java black is a beautifuk color but hard to get perfectly clean with our hard water. We actually used the heated seats this weekend due to the cold front, it was actually nice on my bad back too. Can't wait to get it off road! It is extremely nice to drive and I have had passing thoughts of selling my Supercrew and getting one for myself!

Hey, tell the wife to join you on the next "wheels event" put together by the local dealer. They do one evey quarter and my experience has been that even though they ensure before hand that the trails are safe and the dangers minimum, it is not by any stretch of the imagination a boring day off roading. So you get the best of both worlds, have free food and good fun with the new vehicle but not risk getting it banged up or scratched up. The wife should like that!
