Hi everyone,
I just purchased a 2003 Disco SE7. I am curious what other 03 owners think of the truck? Have you seen any mechanical issues I need to watch for? The Dealer is calling for Oil Changes at every 7500 miles I will probably change it every 3000. What do you guys think? What kind of oil do you recomend Synthetic or Multi? One think I have noticed about this Disco is that the power steering is a little noisy. The dealer that I bought it from said they had it checked out and was told that they all make that noise, is that true? How do you know if your vehicle has the ACE on it? How do you activate the Cruise Control on it? I tried pushing the buttons on the steering wheel but they did not do anything that I could see unless I was doing something wrong. What is the best way to get the best fuel mileage out of it?
Sorry for all of the questions but I am totally loving this ride and want to give it a good home. I always heard negative feedback from people about Land Rovers (Mechanical) I hope with this almost new 03 I dont see the issues.

Thanks
Todd

Hi !

Welcome to the Wacky World of Wovers !

Congrats with yer new purchase !
3000 mile oil change is a better idea than 7500. Use best oil available but stay away from so-called "synthetic". One of the best oils in the world, in my humble opinion, is "Kernite" brand. Use a 20W50 or, if not available, a 15W40.
Also try to locate Kernite dealer for all other oils and oil additives for your vehicle.
No, I do not own Kernite stock!

Noisy power steering: only noise you should hear is overflow valve at full lock. Otherwise it ought to be silent. Check belt for tension, if noise persists, see a real power steering specialist. (not a Land-Rover dealer).

ACE, cruise control: see owner's manual !

Best fuel mileage: swap lead sole in right foot shoe for a lightweight rubber one. K&N air filters may also improve things since they are less prone to clogging up and let the engine "breathe" better.

Negative feedback on Rovers: usually from people who abuse their ride or do not take proper care of her.

Kiss your Land-Rover lovingly every night after carefully tucking her in.

(Land-Rovers are feminine. Also, Land-Rovers were born, not built).

Regards,

Takeo.
