The aluminum v8 Rovers use tends to sludge up rather easily, Most of us flush our engines to help eliminate the buildup, one symptom of sludge can be lifter noise. You might try adding a reputable engine oil flush treatment (seafoam, gunk, etc.) before oil & filter change.(I've used both) DO NOT DRIVE AROUND WITH THIS IN ENGINE!! Follow directions on container. If you take it in for oil change, add flush in parking lot outside. Again, read instructions and plan accordingly. It may take several tries to desludge lifter if that's the problem, but that would be my 1st thought. (I do it every 3rd oil change, I do my own work) With lifter noise, I would still drive vehicle albeit gently until I gave the flush a chance to work. (maybe 2-3 times) Good luck

How many miles on your engine, how often do you change your oil? Mike
