hi i have a rr 98 i have a sound from the block auto shop say it is a lefter?
how   can i fix it

The aluminum v8 Rovers use tends to sludge up rather easily, Most of us flush our engines to help eliminate the buildup, one symptom of sludge can be lifter noise.

You might try adding a reputable engine oil flush treatment (seafoam, gunk, etc.) before oil & filter change.(I've used both)
DO NOT DRIVE AROUND WITH THIS IN ENGINE!!
Follow directions on container.
If you take it in for oil change, add flush in parking lot outside.
Again, read instructions and plan accordingly.

It may take several tries to desludge lifter if that's the problem, but that would be my 1st thought.
(I do it every 3rd oil change, I do my own work)
With lifter noise, I would still drive vehicle albeit gently until I gave the flush a chance to work.
(maybe 2-3 times)

How many miles on your engine, how often do you change your oil?

it has 93k

i change it all the time every 3000 10-30 oil fully

hi again i just wanted to know after i put seafoam when is the sound go away i drive like a 20miles day does it take up to a week?  please help

 when/if it goes away is difficult to say - if it's caused by sludge buildup in your engine.
there's several other more ominus causes of lifter noise that come to mind, but I'd give it several more flushes over the next week & drive nice - you're starting with the easiest first.

by the way, did you notice the engine idling rough since the ticking started?

also, 1-10 how mechanically inclined are you?
do you commute in rush hour - i.e. lots of idling

wease, I just read your other post about 15-50 oil.
don't panic, but I wouldn't think oil that thick will help your situation.
If it's cold now in WA then oil that heavy won't circulate well until the engine starts to warm
I use 10-30 until 60 deg. outside then 10-40

as for me how mechanically i am i know little but not to much, i would said 5. inow how to change the brake convert the air to coil and the easy stuff but in the motor that to much for me. So what areyou saying is that drive slow and flush very 500 miles until the sound goes away. oh yeah just used seafoam once right: i have put 6oz in motor and the rest in gas. i hope it did it right. you know what is funny when i check the dip stick i mean the oil dip stick smoke come out of there is that good or bad? is my motor giving on me it only has 93k and it has alway been tune up by me and dealer no one esle. what should i do trade it in for a 2003 RR or keep it try to save it, just for the record this is my 1st RR and i had for a long time is it time for a new one or it is just a minor fix. please advised me the best way out of this. the next thing i do not want t died RR in my front yard!
