Ok - spoken with a couple of other people, if it's not the bearing it might be the output shaft itself is bent. If that's the case you'll need a new bearing anyway as an impact hard enough to bend the shaft will mess with the bearing too. When you take it to bits to replace the bearing , place the shaft on a clean flat surface and roll it along with the palm of your hand - you should be able to feel if it's bent as an irregularity in the way it rolls.
