I have always wanted to own a land rover.I recently noticed a 1990 range rover at a used car dealer,it turns over, but will not start. It has just under 170,000 miles, looks good bodywise. The guy said he'd take $1250 or best offer. My question is are there any common problems on old rovers that stop them from starting and more to the point I guess is it worth that kind of money in the shape it's in?

Do not even think about buying it untill they get it running and you can have it checked.

I agree with DiscoMike. A Rangie Classic with 170K miles that is not running could very easily be a major money pit -- lifting thousands of dollars out of your wallet before the dust settles. How do I know?

I have a 1991 Classic with 140K on it now, and I know these vehicles fairly well. The one you describe is worth about $500 as it sits.
