FYI, I have a 97 and I am getting new magnaflow cats next week. My left one is blown, so I needed to replace them. A local shop is charging me $325 for the pair installed. I will be tracking my mileage and posting the results.. I cut off my resonator and like the growl. If you want better sound, start there.

Jason

Okay, so I am gonna start by cutting off the resonator.  Any suggestions on the best way to go about this?  Purpendular to the pipe straight through?  At an angle?

Best tool: Sawzall? Jigsaw?  Hacksaw?

Thanks a bunch. I am brand new at doing any of my own modifications, mechanical OR just plain aesthetic, so I appreciate any guidence!

Cheers!

Let's see if Mike sees this. He has a D2 and cut his off.  I cut mine off perpendicular to the pipe. I had to make sure and not get into the bend or compromise the hanger. My res. goes in on the side and comes out in the middle. I think yours might be straight through. Mike will know exactly.

Use a sawzall with a fine toothed metal blade. Hacksaw will take you forever. Go slow and don't let it fall on you....

PS not sure if you saw it, but.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-1Y0RnX7tU  .

I am cutting this evening!  I have a nice little dinner break from work that should provide enough time!  I'll snap a couple pics of the process just for grins

oh yeah, if you want loud, put a glasspack in... I just wanted a little more growl. I didn't want the drone at highway speeds. I got just enough for what I want.
