Is it common to have a pinging noise when my disco warms up and cools down? Ive also noticed the noise occasionally when the vehicle is in operation. One more thing...when I turn my key to the 3 position to start my disco there is a winding out sound after it started. Strange? I dont know.

Can you better describe the ping sound, is it like a cheap gas ping?
As for the starting noise, is it coming from the starter, like the bendix gear hanging up up a second or two?

Sounds like its coming from the area around the radiator....as for the ignition deal it sounds like its coming from the starter.
I guess im not sure what a cheap gas ping sounds like...

Actually Mike, its more of a ticking noise coming from the front of the Disco. Is this something that I should immediately take care of tomorrow?

Maybe not tomorrow, kind of depends on what is causing the noise.
What year is the truck, how many miles on her?

Are you hearing an internal engine noise, maybe low oil pressure related? 2003's have been know for oil pump issues and loosing engine because of it. If there is any possibility of this to be happening, I would get the truck in the shop ASAP and I would suggest you buy an extended warranty before your factory warranty expires.
Granted, there may be something else going on but you had better look into it quickly.

It doesnt seem like it is internal...it sound like expanding-contracting type noise. This is most obvious when shes warming up or cooling off. I just started to hear this noise while shes in operation. And its very slight. Ive always had lousy vehicles so maybe Im freaking out over nothing?

Could be it is nothing major, it is just hard to figure out a vehicles problem over the internet sometimes.
