old news.. The Iran deal was in place for supply of vehicles, as a result of the collapse of MR Rover, the Iranian's have offered to buy the production line, which they were going to do at a later date anyway. The main news is that several companies are in a bidding war for the MG name, (the Rover name is still owned by BMW) Ford is one company, along with the Chinese company which was going to buy a stake in the company originally, then pulled out at the last minute causing the company to go into administration. Time will tell, but the MG name will continue in some form, as the MG Sport company is a seperate business, and makes the SV sports car, and is still a running business, but looking for a buyer now the parent company is gone. It should also be said that the Phonix group is still in business as well, so if all fails the could bring the MG brand back, fresh without debts that have destroyed the company. The initial report regarding the collaspe of the company blames British Areospace and BMW... BA for rushing into a deal to sell the company to BMW without talking to it's fellow owner Honda. BMW gets the blame for stripping the company down, and keeping the mini, selling Land Rover to Ford, (both profititable and would have supplied enough money for MG Rover to introduce it's new models) and also for selling it to the Phonix group. MG Rover have three new cars already designed and waiting to go into production, problem is they had no money to actcually buy the equipment to install in the factory to build them... So any company buying the MG Rover company gets these 3 new cars too, which is why their is so much interest. The Iranians aren't interested in the new models..
