I have had the "hot, no start" problem since the software upgrade.  I do believe my dealer called Horburg to find out exactly what they'd done to fix the problem, since when they entered my problem into the database (at that time) I was the first reporting it.  Have since driven 3 long (2+ hour) trips, stopped the engine, and restarted it, all without a problem.

I would suggest that your dealer call the two listed here, who seemed to have fixed the problem.  More than one head on the problem should get it fixed.  Haven't found anything yet I don't like about this vehicle, and I've now got 8000 miles on her!

Hey guys,

Just picked up my 1st Land Rover on Saturday, love it.  However,  I noticed that there was a slight manufacturing defect in the windshield and as a result there is a air bubble.  I brought it back to the deal today (Monday) and they recommend that I do not change it (but they can change it for me because it was a defect).  I just wanted to know if anyone else had noticed any bubbles in thier windows and if you recommend having the dealer replace it?

Thanks!

So far, I have had an evaporator pump needing to be replaced after 3000 miles.  I had a few LR quirks like the seat belt light and bell staying on after the seatbelt was fastened.  And, the turn signal staying on after being returned to the neutral position.

However, I love my new LR2.  We also have a 2004 Freelander HSE that has been problem free.

We picked ours up in April, and other than a few minor quirks, which were easily fixed, we are loving this car.  Glad to hear someone else had a 2004 HSE Freelander that is problem free. I actually hated to trade that car in, since I'd had no issue with it, and it was a wonderful car for us.

I LOVED my LR2 when I bought it in May of 2007. I had a starting issue (push start would turn over but not fully start) from about 2,500 miles on. I had my LR2 in the shop 3 times for the starting issue, and once for it over heating, and I even got stranded as my car would not start for over 30 minutes. Per the service department, they were unable to find anything wrong or duplicate the non-starting issue, stated they performed the software update, etc., and the online computer did not report any of the false starts. So after my car was in for over 90 days for service since MAY of 2007 and it would not start, so I lemon lawed it. I just settled my case. I really loved this car. It was a lot of "bang" for the buck, good ride, auto/sprot drive, Nav, bluetooth, etc., all worked for me and was a good fit for me - but I couldn't risk being stranded again, and with the dealership not finding a solution to the issue with the vehicle not starting, I felt I had no choice. There was only 6,100 miles on the car.

Hope you all enjoy your LR2's and don't have any serious issues, but for now I'm signing out and will not be in the forum anymore. I really did like the LR2, but will have to look elsewhere for now. Feel free to contact me should you have questions about my experience.

Peace out!

That's too bad that your dealer couldn't fix the problem with the hot starts.  And its doubly too bad that you had to use the Lemon Law.  Our dealer fixed the problem the second time by conversing with another dealer (mentioned here in these forums) who had solved the problem.  Enjoy whatever you decide to purchase.

I bought my Diesel LR2 in Feb 2007 and it drove OK for few months. Following the unfortunate incident of discharging the battery because of the headlights being left over night the smooth ride changed into a frustrating and seemingly loosing battle with the electric system. In short, the battery discharges completly (I have to use the manual key to get in) sometimes only after few days in the parking lot. The dealership claimed to have solved the problem generated by "a faulty radio software" but they have not.
The problem extends with recharging the battery: if you follow the instructions set out in the Owner`s Manual you will never get it done (believe me, I made the tech assistance guys try it) only cause missfires that can lead to destroying the battery.

I also had problems with "Transmission fault - traction reduced" warnings but they went away after the battery was discharged for the first time.

Regards,

Andrei Vic

I love my LR2 since the day I had a test drive, that was 3 weeks ago!. I do not want to think there are mayor issues yet and get frustrated in my purchased of 40k but it since to me like some are lucky with minor issues and others not and I hope I am the one with glitches only like the Bluetooth does not work with my new Blackberry  uhh.. bad luck!.i hope I can get a patch soon. Well this morning I found a glitch in the electrical system. I started the LR2 put my sit belt then start driving and a message pop up in the dash board for the seat belt and the Air bag …??? Uhhhh...did not know it was me or the passenger sit so I un-click my and put it back and still the message ON, I did click the passenger sit and the message was still there. I decide to stop the car shut it down and restarted it again, I click my seat belt back THEN FINALLY, both Messages went away…
What do you call that?  An electronic glitch?  It will happen again? I hope not too soon.

I've had "issues".  Wipers sometimes go on when I start the car.  Dealer has no idea why.  When I first got the car, it stalled in traffic.  Lost power and crawled to the side of the road.  It was scary.  Dealer "reset" the computer and luckily that problem did not reoccur.  Ongoing problem with the radio.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  Have to restart the car, sometimes multiple times, to "fix" it.  Dealer says it is an amplifier problem and after waiting 2 months the part finally became available.  Hopefully, that will take care of that problem.  Also had sunroof recall.

Car is fun to drive though.  I had a 2006 LR3 and we like this one better.  Hopefully the LR2 will be more reliable than the LR3.
