BFG A\Ts  $150 each. Can't beat 'em.

When it comes to the weight and use of a Dsico, there is no such thing as cheap/best. You need something more then a tire for a car if you expect them to last.

Would the BFG A/T be your recommendation for a stock '95 (no lift) disco as well? what are the best tire dimensions? I have a second car, so I'd like to choose the best offroad option.

Firestone Destination A/T.  Top rated tire on TireRack.com for Light Trucks (better than the BFG).

You might want to consider springing for another LTX...easiest way to kill the value of a car is to have mismatched tires...

BFG At's are a little expensive but a really supper long lasting tire. I would recommend a 245/75/16.

I really like Yokohama Geolanders, running mostly street. Not cheap but they are quiet and last really well. I have 30K on my current set and showing very even wear, good for at least another 20K.  I also have them on my Chevy pick-up.

Forget AT's then. Look at tires like Cooper STT's (they are fantastic in mud/dirt/rocks), or something with a similar tread.
