I have the OEM Alpine CD changer in my 2000 Disco II. Recently, the changer refused to eject the magazine (even though you can hear the drive mechanism trying to eject it when you push the button) and the radio head unit says "no magazine" when you push the CD button. I'm trying to rule out any known common problems with easy fixes before I assume I have to replace the changer. Anyone have a similar experience that they resolved? Thanks.

Yes, it is. I have removed the changer from under the seat. I initially thought one of the CDs was jammed, and indeed, when I took the cover off the unit, one of the black CD trays was in the extended position. With some very careful work, I was able to get the CD and tray back into the magazine and remove the magazine from the changer. I was hoping that I had solved the problem, but when I reconnected the changer to the power connection and reinserted the magazine (this time with no CDs in it, in case I had a bad disc), it again refused to eject. As I mentioned, the head unit seems to not be recognizing that the magazine is in place. It says "no magazine". Perhaps that's just a result of some other error in the changer, though.

I am not sure about the alpine. Most cd changers have a reset button. usually the size of a pensil. Mine is located on the Right side of the eject buttom. Had a similar problem and this fixed it. Hope it is that simple for you. Duboff

I have an '01 SE and the CD changer did the same thing the day after I bought it. I was thinking what the hell did I get myself into. Anyways, I don't really have much to tell you but after I finally got it out it just started working again. Sorry that I couldn't help.
